How to listen shoutcast radio with Realplayer or Windows Media Player

If you want clients to be able to listen to your shoutcast server from Real player or Windows Media Player you have to create .ram and .asx files and put them on your website.

Create file listen.ram and add the following line in it:

http://SHOUTCASTIP:PORT/listen.pls

Create file listen.asx and add the following lines to it:

<ASX version = "3.0">

<Abstract>:www.YOURDOMAINNAME.com</Abstract>
<Title>YOUR TITLE</Title>
<Author>www.YOURDOMAINNAME.com or any</Author>
<Copyright>CHANGE THIS TOO</Copyright>
<MoreInfo href="www.YOURDOMAINNAME.com" />

<Entry>
<Ref href="http://SHOUTCASTIP:PORT/" />
<MoreInfo href="http://www.YOURDOMAINNAME.com" />
<Abstract>YOUR TITLE HERE</Abstract>
</Banner>
</Entry>

</ASX>

Please note that you have to change SHOUTCASTIP:PORT with your real shoutcast IP address and port!

Then upload created files to your website's root directory and add following code to your page:

<a href="/listen.ram">Listen with Real Player</a><br />
<a href="/listen.asx">Listen with Windows Media Player</a><br />

So it will look at your page like this:
